During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, the current state of bilateral relations, and ways to further strengthen and expand cooperation between Iran and Nigeria across various fields. Ambassador Mahdavi Raja emphasized the longstanding and friendly relations between the two countries and highlighted the important role of diplomatic missions in facilitating and advancing bilateral cooperation. He expressed hope that, with the commencement of Ambassador Mohammed’s mission in Tehran, further opportunities would be created to deepen cooperation in political, economic, trade, cultural and other areas of mutual interest. The two sides also stressed the importance of maintaining close consultations and communication between the two embassies and making full use of existing capacities to further promote the friendly relations and mutual cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Ambassador Salau Hamza Mohammed is expected to depart for Tehran in the coming days to begin his diplomatic mission.
